“Far more than just cold statistics, these numbers represent real families, real communities and real lives lost,” Ms Allan said. Almost 100 Australian academics have also expressed their opposition to the Western Highway project and urged the Andrews government to withdraw an eviction notice for the Djab Warrung Heritage Protection Embassy.
The academics also called for Indigenous heritage training for all staff working in “Victorian infrastructure policy, design and construction agencies” that would include ministers and advisers.
