, is stepping down when his current contract expires next May, capping a 25-year career that has seen him produce more than 6,270 hours of programming, most of those on two of TV’s most venerable game shows.Jeopardy!Wheel of FortuneJeopardy! especially has had a resurgence in the spotlight, with Trebek’s public fight with cancer and phenom champion James Holzhauer fueling big ratings gains.
Friedman has won 14 Emmy Awards and a Peabody, along with being part of the Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame, the NAB Broadcasting Hall of Fame and receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He is getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year.
