Wednesday marked the completion of a $3.8 million upgrade, allowing for a "smoother, brighter, and more accessible journey" at the Del Rio Transportation Depot.
Amtrak, along with the City of Del Rio, assisted in the investment of a 650-foot concrete platform, as well as upgrades to the stations signage.A mobile lift enclosure, parking stalls, public right-of-way access, and energy efficient LED light fixtures lighting along the platform and pathways, are all among the improvements meeting the specifications of the Americans with Disabilities Act .
Since 2011, Amtrak has invested almost $800 million dollars allocated across 118 stations nationwide for "safe, efficient, and comfortable travel experience for customers with disabilities."
