Most Americans are convinced that artificial intelligence could 'threaten civilization,' according to a poll released a day after OpenAI CEO Sam Altman called for increased regulation.
While Americans have spoken about their fears about A.I. as a whole, they are not a priority in issue polling. Eight-two percent stated they were concerned about a recession, while 77% put combating crime through increased police funding as their priority.
Partisanship seems to shape opinions about A.I. Seventy percent of Trump supporters said they were worried about A.I., compared to 60% of Biden voters.
