PAHANG: A military personnel holding the rank of a corporal in the Malaysian Army was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly assaulting seven junior soldiers at the Royal Malay Regiment camp in Bentong, leaving a 24-year-old victim unconscious and in critical condition. Preliminary investigations revealed that the 37-year-old corporal allegedly punched, struck, and kicked the victims on several parts of their bodies, said Bentong district police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar. Zaiham urged the public not to speculate on the case as it could interfere with ongoing investigations. The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.Between 2019 and 2024, a total of 31 Malaysian Army personnel were dismissed for bullying and abusing junior members.
