Man arrested in connection with October murder

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police on Thursday arrested a man accused of murder in connection with an Oct. 14 killing just north of downtown. Jose Gerardo Gonzalez, 38, is alleged to have shot San Ramon Soto, 49, in the forehead in a parking lot in the 1600 block of North Flores Street. His bail has been set at $200,000.
According to an affidavit supporting Gonzalez’s arrest, Soto was found lying in a large pool of blood. Emergency responders arrived at the scene at about 4:30 a.m. and pronounced him dead at 4:48 a.m. A nearby resident alerted police to a black handgun that been placed under under a rock in the resident’s backyard. Police suspect that Gonzalez placed it there before fleeing.Meanwhile, police said Gonzalez’s fingerprints matched those on a beer can that was also near Soto.
