Man charged for allegedly impersonating HDB contractor to cheat victims.
Gary Lau, 55, currently faces five counts of cheating five individuals of $1,250 in total by pretending to be a Home Patching Contractor. The alleged offences took place between 25 October 2018 and 10 March this year.
The police had received reports that a man who identifying himself as an appointed contractor had allegedly cheated victims into handing over deposits between $100 and $500 for repair works he identified in their homes.The man was arrested on Monday. Cheating carries a jail term of up to 10 years, and a fine.
