A number of objects were hurled at the Reform UK leader during his campaign trail
A man has been charged after allegedly threatening Nigel Farage during an incident where objects were hurled at the Reform UK leader.
South Yorkshire Police confirmed on Wednesday that 28-year-old Josh Greally has been charged with using threatening, abusive, insulting words and behaviour with intent to cause fear or provoke unlawful violence. Greally has released on bail and is set to appear before Barnsley Magistrates' Court on June 26.
While campaigning in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, Mr Farage described the altercation as "pretty nasty". The incident drew criticism from various political figures, who denounced any form of "violence" against General Election candidates. Stephanie Peacock, standing as Labour's parliamentary candidate for Barnsley South, echoed the sentiment, stating: "Intimidation has no place in our politics. I condemn the violence we saw in Barnsley town centre today."
