KUALA LUMPUR – A 53-year-old man has been detained over the murder of an elderly woman whose body was found in a freezer in a house in Taman Overseas Union Garden, a residential estate in south-western Kuala Lumpur.Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Commander Rusdi Mohd Isa said the police were alerted to the matter at 8.48am on Nov 12.“We are investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he said in a statement on Nov 12.
Malay daily Sinar Harian previously reported that the suspect had allegedly murdered his mother, who was in her 80s, and hid her body in a freezer three years ago.Sources said that the suspect was standing next to the freezer when the police arrived at the scene.Brickfields police headquarters are conducting further investigations at the scene.
One neighbour, who declined to be named, told Sinar Harian that he was shocked to see an ambulance and several police officers at the house. “It was a long time since I last saw her . I thought she went back to her kampung or moved to another house and did not live with his son any more,” he said.“The suspect seemed normal.
