A 40-year-old man who was rescued from a burning Bukit Batok Housing Board flat in the early hours of last Thursday has died in hospital.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said yesterday that preliminary investigations indicated the fire was accidental and was linked to three burnt personal mobility devices in the unit. Officers wearing breathing apparatus cut through the iron gate and prised open the wooden front door to find the man unconscious, SCDF had said.
The Sunday Times spoke to residents in the area, who said that the couple lived in the unit with a dog and a parrot. They have no children.
