Man stabbed five times while trying to break up fight in Southcrest [Breaking]

A 36-year-old man was stabbed five times in the torso while trying to intervene in a fight in the community of Southcrest on Saturday, San Diego police said.

The victim was in a parking lot off South 43rd Street south of Alpha Street when he saw a man and woman get into an argument about 12:10 p.m., police said. He told officers he worried the fight would turn violent, so he tried to step in and de-escalate the matter, San Diego police Officer David O'Brien said. The man involved in the fight used a weapon to stab the victim, before running off.The wounded man was taken to a hospital for injuries that weren’t believed to be life-threatening, police said.
