"It's absolutely an honor," Clifton told me on the history-making appointment, noting with emphasis that the hotel did in fact have female leadership near the top as recently as 2017 and 2018 — that was her, when she worked just under Clark as the Palace's hotel manager in her first San Francisco role.
A general manager has not yet been name to fill Clifton's shoes at the Marriott Union Square, but Clifton said she plans to assist her successor in an advisory capacity once they've been selected. As Marriott's new area general manager, Clark will oversee more than 4,200 rooms in San Francisco alone, including the Marriott Marquis , The Clancy , Marriott Union Square , W San Francisco , JW Union Square and Westin St. Francis , which is currently hosting the"That equates to a huge amount of revenue we can produce for the general fund," Clark said, noting that hotel-related taxes was the biggest contributor in 2019.
