McLaren's new V-8 is expected to end up in a successor to the P1 hypercar.
McLaren Automotive will introduce a next-generation V-8 engine to power its future supercars, the automaker announced on Tuesday.
McLaren's current V-8, a turbocharged 4.0-liter unit, traces its roots to the turbocharged 3.8-liter V-8 that debuted in the 12C supercar more than a decade ago, an engine that itself has links to a Nissan V-8 originally developed in the late 1980s for endurance racing.
