: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission , in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police, recorded the statement of a Facebook user at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters last Friday regarding an offensive social media post against a child.
“Previously, MCMC had issued a Notice of Attendance to the suspect in accordance with the prescribed procedure. The statement said that the investigation is conducted under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 , which provides for a maximum fine of RM50,000 or imprisonment of up to one year, or both, upon conviction.
