A company that repairs high-tech medical equipment has moved to a south San Jose site where it expects to employ several hundred people and accommodate its push into hiring mode.

SAN JOSE — A company that repairs high-tech medical equipment has moved to a San Jose site where it expects to employ several hundred people and accommodate its push into hiring mode.

The employees at the south San Jose complex repair “life-saving equipment,” said Jorge Lopes, president of Olympus Surgical Technologies of America. In recent weeks, Olympus held a ribbon-cutting event to formally mark the opening of the new site. Olympus executives also believe the complex, which Olympus says is larger than its prior location in the area, will enable employees to have more room to operate — an important consideration in the coronavirus era.

“Olympus has been an important employer in the city of San Jose for more than 40 years, and an early leader in our biotech industry sector,” said Nanci Klein, the city’s director of economic development.
