“Pft, I’m not going to the fucking White House,” was what U.S. women’s soccer co-captain Megan Rapinoe told reporters, according to CNN. This was in response to when the 33-year-old forward was asked, “Are you excited about going to the White House?” She continued: “No, I’m not going to the White House. We’re not gonna be invited… I doubt it.”
In response to Rapinoe’s comment, Trump tweeted, “Women’s soccer player, @mPinoe, just stated that she is “not going to the F...ing White House if we win.” Other than the NBA, which now refuses to call owners, owners , leagues and teams love coming to the White House. I am a big fan of the American Team, and Women’s Soccer, but Megan should WIN first before she TALKS! Finish the job! We haven’t yet.... ....invited Megan or the team, but I am now inviting the TEAM, win or lose.
But Rapinoe is no stranger to speaking out, as she has been an active participant in social justice issues. In 2016, Rapinoe stood in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick and took a knee about a month after media started reporting about the former NFL’s decision to kneel during the National Anthem.
