The man is accused of keeping a widow and her daughter captive at his home, killing the woman’s 4-year-old son and putting his body in a freezer.
This Clark County Detention Center booking photo shows Brandon Lee Toseland, 35, of Las Vegas, following his arrest Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022, on murder and kidnapping charges. Authorities say a schoolgirl gave a note to her teacher saying her mother was being held captive and had not seen the girl's younger brother in more than 10 weeks, leading to the discovery of the boy's body in a garage freezer and Toseland's arrest. Toseland made an initial court appearance Wednesday, Feb.
Toseland, 35, stood silently, staring down at his handcuffed hands, as a Las Vegas judge ordered him to remain jailed pending another court hearing Monday. AP is not naming the mother or children to avoid identifying a victim of sexual abuse. The attorney, Stephen Stubbs, said the woman does not want her name made public.
The mother told investigators she had not seen her son since Dec. 11, when she said Toseland told her the boy had become ill but blocked her from seeing him.
