MeToo Founder Tarana Burke Details Her Partner’s “Scary” Coronavirus Symptoms

On day eight, his fever spiked to 102.9 and he began to have convulsions. Burke immediately called the hospital. “The doctor said I needed to get his fever down,” said Burke, who put him in the shower and gave him extra strength Tylenol. “This was the scariest night, because the pressure of making the wrong decision was overwhelming. Felt like one wrong move could kill him. I didn’t sleep at all. But by morning his fever was at 101+ again and he was calmed. This was the peak I believe.

As of yesterday, Burke’s partner is on day 15 of battling coronavirus and starting to feel better, except for “a horrible cough, which started about four days ago, and headaches.” “We were told he has to go three days with no fever and no meds,” she said. “Today is day three.” The couple plans to stay inside for another week, letting the virusAs COVID-19 cases continue to rise in the United States, Burke hopes sharing her story will help educate people on what to prepare for, just in case.

“I worry about folks who live alone or couples who both get it because you might very well need to be cared for, but not qualify to be hospitalized,” Burke shared at the end of her Twitter thread. “Please stay safe and do your best not to get it at all.”
