PETALING JAYA: The buck stops with me.
This is Michelle Chai’s statement after she tendered her resignation as the Academy Badminton Malaysia executive chief director following the national women’s shocking 3-0 defeat to the Philippines in the quarter-finals of the SEA Games in Phnom Penh in Cambodia on Monday.
The 48-year-old Michelle’s stint only lasted for seven and half months as she was only appointed in October last year while the former National Sports Institute senior physiologist Jones’ career with badminton ended prematurely, just 14 months into his job. Michelle believed instead of only blaming the shuttlers, those who run the programme should be held responsible.
She was referring to herself, Jones and national coaching singles and doubles directors Wong Choong Hann and Rexy Mainaky.
