LinkedIn, the Microsoft-owned employment and career-oriented social-media platform, is eliminating about 670 jobs across its engineering, product, talent and finance teams as the company looks to streamline operations.
"We are continuing to invest in strategic priorities for our future and to ensure we continue to deliver value for our members and customers," the company said in a statement. It is LinkedIn's second round of layoffs this year after the company cut more than 700 jobs in May and shut down its China-focused jobs app, called InCareer.
The latest round of reductions comes as Microsoft leans heavily into generative artificial intelligence and prepares to roll out its AI-powered workplace-software offering, called Microsoft 365 Copilot.
