A Missouri police officer was shot and killed while responding to a call about a customer at a market trying to cash a bad check, according to multiple reports.

Buchannan said Langsdorf had been with the organization for about three months and the suspect who shot him was in custody. A weapon also was recovered, he said. KSDK-TV in St. Louis reported Langsdorf was taken to Barnes Jewish Hospital, where he died from his injuries.The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported the person who tried to cash the bad check is the suspect in the shooting.
