One week after introducing a polarizing pronoun consent policy in Saskatchewan schools, Sask. has shuffled its education minister.

Premier Scott Moe announces a provincial cabinet shuffle during ceremony where the new minsters swore in to their new roles.Cockrill, in his first minutes as education minister, said there is “broad support across the country” for policy on “parental rights and inclusion.”

Cockrill added he has heard from “every single government MLA, across the province” that Saskatchewan constituents have contacted them about situations where parents were unaware their child was using different pronouns at school.Swift Current MLA Everett Hindley, asked moments later, said he has “never” spoken to a parent concerned their child was transitioning at school without telling them, but has had “a number of emails” from people both in support and against government’s position.

“It’s pretty clear that their plan is to stay the course, that they have no intention of backing down on a policy that’s going to hurt vulnerable kids,” Beck said.
