WHITEWATER, Calif. - A tragic crash that took place on a California interstate on Mother’s Day killed a mother and two girls and left six other family members injured.
“So, this was a traumatic scene with injuries of young people and a mother on Mother’s Day, and it’s heart-wrenching,” said California Highway Patrol Officer Jason Montez. The woman who was partially ejected was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as 31-year-old Cecilia Villalobos by the Riverside County coroner’s office.Four other people in the SUV – a 3-year-old girl, a 7-year-old girl, an 11-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy – suffered major injuries, according to Montez. Two of the victims were airlifted to a trauma center.
