Jason Shackelford, 39, told police in Lancaster County he raped the girl before hiding her body. The girl’s mother said Shackelford used her daughter’s wellbeing as leverage to rape her repeatedly as well before she got away and got help.

Police were called to the Wyndham Lancaster Hotel, 2300 Lincoln Way East, on Friday for a disturbance, and encountered a woman with Shackelford, the DA’s office said. The woman explained she was going through a breakup with Shackelford and had asked him to move out. Instead, when she was working at 6:30 a.m. Feb. 9, she got a text from Shackelford saying her daughter was sick in bed.
When the woman was finally allowed to go smoke a cigarette, she told the hotel staff to call the police.
