How Moonhub, an AI recruiting platform, raised $4.4 million from OpenAI-backer Khosla Ventures and Google Ventures without a pitch deck
Moonhub is an AI startup aiming to make the recruiting process more automated and less biased.The startup recently raised $4.4 million in seed funding from Khosla Ventures and Google Ventures.After moving to the US as a young child, Xu and her family couchsurfed at her cousin's house while she trained for the US math team.
Currently, many recruiters use tools like LinkedIn Recruiter, which can overemphasize signals of"pedigree," like a person's college or title, whileor those working in academia or non-profits, Xu told Insider. Moonhub aims to counteract this trend by gathering billions of data points on candidates, not only from LinkedIn, but also from traditionally overlooked sources like Google Scholar, GitHub, Upwork, Twitter, and StackOverflow.
Next, Moonhub's platform guides recruiters through a series of follow-up questions that help to fine tune the search and can even draft initial outreach emails, both examples of itsXu told Insider that the startup both creates its own custom AI search models and experiments with a number of third-party generative AI models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and others.
