LAKEWOOD, Ohio — Police and animal control officials rescued more than 40 dogs Monday after they were found living in a home in “extremely unsatisfactory conditions.”

Police say officers were called to the home on the 1600 block of Waterbury Road after receiving “numerous” complaints about the number of dogs living there. The police department’s Animal Control Unit and the Rocky River Animal Control officer removed the dogs from the home. The dogs are now being cared for by the Lakewood Animal Shelter., the Citizens Committee for the Lakewood Animal Shelter says the number of dogs has put a strain on supplies for the shelter.
