A 32-year-old man was fined $4,500, and the 31-year-old woman was fined $1,000
SINGAPORE: Two more tourists have been caught stealing from the shops at the transit halls within Changi Airport, months after a recent case in April.
On 24 June, the police received a report that a backpack worth more than $180 was stolen from a retail store in the airport transit area. After reviewing the CCTV footage, the police identified two foreigners – a man and a woman – involved in the case and arrested them before they left the country. Investigation revealed that the two suspects also stole perfume from two stores in the airport transit area on the same day, with a total value of more than $360.The 32-year-old man was fined $4,500, and the 31-year-old woman was fined $1,000.Back in April, a 38-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting a belt worth over $800 and cosmetics valued at nearly $200 from Changi Airport’s transit area.
