Iowa’s Spencer Lee’s was in search of his fourth national title, but a pin in the final seconds of a semifinal match put an end to those plans.
, Lee's run came to a disappointing end on Friday. One of Lee's biggest supporters, his mother Cathy, was visibly upset after Purdue's Matt Ramos pulled off the stunning upset in the national semifinals.
Before Cathy took out her frustrations on the glasses, she was seen holding on the person sitting next to her. Lee is also credited with a pair of Big Ten conference championships. After undergoing surgery during the 2021-22 season, Lee return to action as the top-ranked seed in the 125-pound category of the NCAA Championships.
