The giant chasm opened up in the village of Batagay in Yakutia, Russia, with locals fearing that the growing crater is a sign of something more sinister.
A massive chasm that has opened up in Siberia is continuing to grow, leaving locals worried over their safety. The monstrous sinkhole near the town of Batagay, Russia, has been ominously dubbed the 'mouth to Hell'.
This caused the ground to subside and led to major concerns. It has been monitored since the 1980s but the devastating gash is continuing to increase in size, dramatically altering the local landscape, reports the Mirror. If confirmed, this would make it the oldest sunken area discovered in Eurasia. The slump movement is not stabilised and cannot be stopped, it currently grows by around 20 to 30 metres every year.
