A Chicago parent voices concern as her daughter prepares to go back to classes at Michigan State University following last week's deadly shooting.
Many parents in the Chicago-area are having tough, but much-needed conversations with their children as they made their wayIn the days since theEllie deZonna is still processing her emotions, as if she's grasping at straws.
"Everyone who was on campus that night understand what everyone else went through, and its just nice to know that I'm not the only one who's feeling the way that I do," she said. "She actually sent me a picture and she's all smiles, and I love that she's back on campus and she's happy and she's enjoying the day," Fonseca said.
The university said, going forward, academic accommodations would be available on a case-by-case basis for students. Mental health resources, like counseling would be offered at no costs for those who need it.
