Oliver Cass, 22, who had a long history of serious mental health issues, was found unresponsive by his mum inside his home on Fairway, Keyworth, on June 12 last year
The mum of a "lovely" and "funny" Nottinghamshire man who overdosed has urged GPs to meet patients suffering with mental problems face to face. .
Dr Gurvinder Sahota, a GP at the surgery, explained he had started to be involved in Oliver's care in June 2022. He had taken over from another GP who had left the practice, although there was a period in between where the 22-year-old was seen by a number of different doctors. "One thing to take from this is that it is very, very important that you see them face to face. You can tell by looking at them whether they are having a good day or a really bad day."
"I have gone through it in my head multiple times - if there is any more learning to be done we will learn." The coroner also heard evidence from therapist Abigail Graves, who had helped Oliver in group therapy at the Nottinghamshire Mentalization Based Treatment service at the Mandala Centre in Nottingham.
