The surplus of slightly more than a billion dollars for the coming 2023-24 year comes on the heels of a $1.5-billion surplus in 2022-23, according to this budget year’s third-quarter update released simultaneously.

The all-important financing charge to government will remain stagnant at around $812 million a year — less than it was 30 years ago.Article content Education sees a 6.2 per cent or $235-million increase to deal with the highest enrolment the province has seen in 20 years, whilefor Saskatchewan Income Support , the Saskatchewan Assured Income for Disabilities and the Seniors Income Plan.

But for all the surplus bliss, many with high expectations that this would solve their problems coming out of three years of pandemic will be disappointed.
