CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Myles Garrett admitted that Baker Mayfield’s actions in the runup to the Browns’ 26-24 victory in Carolina had the Browns’ defense feeling dangerous heading into the game.
In addition to Mayfield selling “Off the Leash” T-shirts during the week, he supposedly told NFL Network’s Cynthia Frelund of the Browns after his final preseason game that he was “going to them up.” “It’s a privilege to be able to step on this field and play against these guys. We’re some of the world’s best athletes and America’s best. I’m just happy to be out here and tell the guys to be grateful for it.”“He didn’t lose my respect,” Garrett said. “I don’t think I ever had a problem with him as a football player. He was playing injured and that earns a lot of respect in my eyes as well. Him being able to lead those kind of drives, I’ve seen it before against multiple teams.
He got the big embrace he was hoping to get from his close friend Nick Chubb, who’s remained in touch.
