North East Independent School District is making disciplinary changes when it comes to students suspected of having prohibited items on camps.

Starting Jan. 6, 2025, students suspected of being in possession of a prohibited item who run away from administrators and do not comply to a lawful search could be sent to the North East Alternative Center.This decision is due to an increase in students refusing to comply to a lawful search and/or running away when they are typically suspected of vaping.
“2. Students from possessing or using cigarettes, tobacco, tobacco products, electronic, vapor, smokeless or any other substitute form of cigarettes, tobacco, or tobacco-like products, as well as the use of any devices which are used for the purpose of ingesting or transmitting any type of tobacco, or tobacco-like products at a school-related or school-sanctioned activity on or off school property.
