Chicago firefighters Jermaine Pelt, 49, and Jan Tchoryk, 55, both died in the line of duty this week in separate fires that also left four other firefighters injured.

The 49-year-old was one of the firefighters who responded to a frame house fire in the 12000 block of South Wallace Street shortly after 3:30 a.m. Tuesday for a fire on the second floor and in the attic.
