A new clip from Evil Dead Rise reveals the Book of the Dead's discovery in a dark, creepy room teeming with bugs and religious symbols.

A new clip from Evil Dead Rise reveals the creepy discovery of the Book of the Dead in a room donned with religious symbols and full of bugs. Also going by the name Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, the Book of the Dead is an ancient relic in the Evil Dead franchise that allows a Kandarian Demon to turn people into Deadites. The only way to stop those who have become Deadites is typically through total bodily dismemberment.

Now, Cineworld has shared a new clip from Evil Dead Rise showing the character Danny discovering the Book of the Dead. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The dark and creepy clip sees Danny exploring a room full of religious symbols and bugs, only to discover the Book of the Dead under a sheet. The clip accentuates Evil Dead Rise's horror elements, indicating the film will return to the franchise's origins in terms of tone.

Evil Dead Rise is also expected to have a more standalone presentation, with no returning cast members from previous installments anticipated. This means Beth will have to uncover the context of her new, terrifying scenario without assistance from legacy characters, such as Bruce Campell's Ash Williams. Because Beth will be wholly unfamiliar with the Book of the Dead and Deadites, the movie will show her terrifying descent into a world of an ancient evil.

The film also promises to be a blood-soaked outing, as Evil Dead Rise hired an industrial kitchen to make over 1,700 gallons of fake blood. With the horror elements dialed up to high levels, it appears the latest installment in the Evil Dead franchise will remain true to what makes the film series work while embracing a more terrifying atmosphere. Just how scary Evil Dead Rise is remains unclear, but the clip of Danny discovering the Book of the Dead indicates it will be horrifying to watch.
