While Hulu’s new anime Heavenly Delusion did not get the red-carpet promo that usually accompanies major shows, it still has the potential to be big.
It wouldn't be surprising if fans haven't heard much about Tengoku Daimakyo , Hulu's newest anime series. What would be incredible is if Heavenly Delusion is not one of the most talked about series by the end of the Spring anime season.
Hirotaka Mori's Heavenly Delusion which adapts Masakazu Ishiguro's Tengoku Daimakyo debuted on April 1, 2023. However, unlike other anime premiers, as the result of a collaboration between Disney and Kodansha, the publisher of Tengoku Daimakyo, the series debuted simultaneously in Japan and globally. This is one of the first times an anime has ever enjoyed a simultaneous worldwide premiere and demonstrated the reach that the Disney-Kodansha partnership can accomplish.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Why Will Heavenly Delusion Be a Big Hit? Despite its stealth promotional campaign and premiering alongside two of the biggest fan-favorite animes of the last several years, when all is said and done, look to Heavenly Delusion as being the anime that people are talking about the most at the end of the season.
First, there are the main characters - Maru, Kiruko, Tokio, and Mimihime - all of whom are interesting in their own rights as a result of their talents, abilities, and personalities but who have backgrounds and connections that are mysteriously unclear.
Interestingly, the first project of the Kodansha-Disney collaboration featured Tokyo Revengers, the hit manga and anime that had built up a worldwide fan base for years. It was almost guaranteed that the premiere would be a success. While the manga Heavenly Delusion did have a fan base, it was rather a niche product, which suggests that Disney-Kodansha and Hulu would promote it a lot more than they, especially considering its scheduling.
