While putting up the new signs, the city also shortened a few school zones, bringing them more in line with the school buildings. Magus said this reflects guidance from the Transportation Association of Canada, which has advised municipalities that drivers are more likely to ignore signs that are far from a school.Article content
While the new signs are made of steel, their locations aren’t entirely set in stone. With a project of this size, Magus said he’s fairly certain the city will hear from the public if it got any placements wrong.Magus said the city is also aware of a few spots where trees will need to be pruned where new signs have gone up, he said city parks teams would be doing the work at appropriate times depending on the species of trees involved.
