Andre Clarke, 45, allegedly raped the girl in her home in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. She was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

The non-profit says statistics show that in 93 percent of cases reported to law enforcement, the victims know the perpetrator. The perpetrator is a family member in 34 percent of cases, an acquaintance in 59 percent of cases and a stranger in only 7 percent. RAINN also says that child sexual abuse is a widespread problem—with child protective services substantiating or finding evidence for a claim of child sexual abuse every nine minutes.
One in 9 girls and 1 in 53 boys under the age of 18 experience sexual abuse or assault at the hands of an adult, according to RAINN.
