Tenants of Haven New Providence say heat and hot water problems have persisted for months under AION Management.

Tenants at Haven New Providence say they have been without sufficient heat and hot water since Oct. 1 under AION Management.Hundreds of people living at an apartment complex in New Providence spent the coldest Christmas in decades without heat and hot water.

But some tenants say the Christmas Day incident could have been avoided altogether had AION Management addressed issues with heat and hot water raised months prior.“We have continued to monitor all pipes and boilers daily since then, to ensure everything is working properly. Currently, there are no additional pipe leaks or heating issues,” said President Robin Flagler.

AION Management is a privately held real estate company with AION Partners and AION Construction, according to its website. Under the state housing codes, from Oct. 1 to May 1, a landlord must provide enough heat so that the temperature in the apartment is at least 68 degrees from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Between the hours of 11 p.m. and 6 a.m, the temperature in the apartment must be at least 65 degrees.

Longtime residents said they have learned how to prepare for boiler breaks or faulty radiators in the winter.
