Despite concerns in the past, Stephen F. Austin State University will not change its name...
There will be no"UT-Nacogdoches" or"University of Texas at Stephen F. Austin."ELECTRIC SCHOOL BUSSES:"While good for the university, hate how they have to integrate the UT into their name, signed, an El Pasoan who thinks Texas Western is far cooler sounding than UTEP," one user wrote.
"There are people who said, 'hey ... it seems like other schools in the system have the UT name,'" Garner told The Houston Chronicle."We are the outlier in that respect. But we will continue to be Stephen F. Austin State University."Gov. Greg Abbott made the union official Wednesday when he signed the bill for the Nacogdoches-based institution, with more than 11,300 students enrolled, to join the UT system.
UT System officials also told SFA leaders that it would immediately provide $1 million more for annual scholarships and $5.5 million for faculty salaries, the Tribune reported. And a financial analysis by both institutions showed that joining the system would also provide them $124 million in additional value.
