At least three Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD students died and six others have been hospitalized in a string of overdoses from fentanyl-laced pills, according to a federal complaint.
“I, deep down in my heart, feel like that my daughter never had a chance,” Williams said. “Nobody cared when I cried to them and told them what was going on in these schools. Nobody cared.” The school district said earlier this week it sent an email to all parents on Oct. 31 “alerting them to the threat of fentanyl.” Two presentations about teen drug use were also held in November, the district said. A synthetic opioid, fentanyl is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. An amount the size of the tip of a sharpened pencil can be lethal.to a Student Health Advisory Council meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Rep. Colin Allred, D-Dallas, whose district includes parts of Carrollton, said in a statement he will keep working “to get law enforcement the resources they need to reduce fentanyl overdoses and help our first responders save lives.”
