Mixed-use projects are being proposed around stations in Oceanside, Carlsbad and Escondido. The projects are expected to create over 900 market-rate housing units and almost 200 affordable ones.

That hub connects travelers to Greyhound, Amtrak, Orange County’s Metrolink trains, and NCTD’s Coaster, Sprinter, and Breeze buses.
She said developers are currently negotiating with the city of Oceanside, and construction is anticipated to start in 2025. Joyce said he also hopes the affordable housing element will help keep more people from getting pushed out of the city. Between the two projects, Carlsbad will get 411 more apartments, and 81 of them will be affordable housing.
