A motorcyclist died after a solo collision Thursday at an East Oakland intersection, authorities said.
In statements, police said officers responded to a collision report just before 1:35 p.m. at High Street and MacArthur Boulevard on the edge of the city’s Laurel district.
When officers arrived, they found a man in his thirties suffering from major injuries after his ejection after the motorcycle he had been riding struck a pole. Paramedics and Oakland Fire Department firefighters also responded to provide care, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The man’s identity was not available, pending next-of-kin notification by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s bureau.
The collision remains under investigation, and anyone with information may call Oakland police traffic investigators at 510-777-8570.
