Congratulations are in order for lindseyvonn! The Olympic skier is engaged to New Jersey Devils hockey player PKSubban1.
Olympic gold medal-winning skier Lindsey Vonn has said yes to professional ice hockey player P.K. Subban’s proposal. They first met two years ago at the Nickelodeon sports show that takes place after the ESPYs, where P.K. chatted with Lindsey and her younger sister Karin. “Karin’s the one who was working really, really hard for me,” P.K. laughs. “I was obviously interested in wanting to talk to Lindsey. But at the time, she was already dating [someone else], so I couldn’t really speak to her.
“Right off the bat, I knew he was different,” Lindsey reveals. “But I’d been married before, so I was pretty hesitant to let myself think that I could find someone that I would want to be married to again. After a few months of dating, I knew he was the one I wanted to be with, though. He makes me happy, and he’s so positive and energetic.”
After P.K.’s grand Christmas gesture, the relationship progressed quickly. P.K. has always been one for romance: “For Valentine’s Day, I’m the kind of guy who brings in a chef and gets flowers. I’m just like that; I don’t have to think about it,” he says. But for the proposal, he didn’t want to put on a show. “I wanted it to be very personal and about how serious I’m taking it,” he says. “It’s about us and our family. I kept it close to the chest.
As for wedding plans? “We’re in such a busy time right now. We’re trying to move to New Jersey,” Lindsey says. “I just want to enjoy the moment and the engagement. We’re not in a big hurry to get married. It kind of depends on his playing schedule, and when we have time to sit down and go through it. I don’t want to stress him out because he has a big season coming.”
