At the heart of Biden’s big plans for government use of AI is a push to hire more federal AI workers.

Already, the federal government is integrating AI into its operations, according to OMB. This includes predicting infectious diseases at the Department of Health and Human Services; predicting natural disasters at the Department of Energy, and notifying people of severe weather events at the Department of Commerce.

“Talent’s really critical,” OMB Deputy Director for Management Jason Miller told POLITICO. “As technology evolves, we need individuals who are nimble with how is used so that we can deploy it in effective, trustworthy ways inside of federal agencies.”
