Check out an exclusive clip from the WWII movie Onoda10000NightsInTheJungle, based on the true story of Japanese soldier Hiroo Onoda.

Screen Rant is thrilled to present an exclusive clip from the new action-drama movie Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle. Based on the true story of Japanese soldier Hiroo Onoda, one of the last holdouts during WWII. Onoda, who had been hiding in caves in the Philippines, only surrendered when officially relieved of duty by his former commanding officer in 1974.

While the film is based on true events, it is inspired by Bernard Cendron and Gérard Chenu's 1974 biography Onoda, seul en guerre dans la jungle, as well as director Arthur Harari's conversations with Cendron as opposed to Onoda's own memories, with Onoda having died in 2014. Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle joins an impressive roster of WWII movies but follows the story of a soldier motivated by honor and a steadfast belief.

The actions of these officers are based on true wartime events that proved catastrophic to the soldiers stationed on the island. Onoda was given orders to neither surrender nor end his life, with his mission to hold the island being his only objective. Onoda and the few survivors spent decades hiding in the mountains, refusing to believe WWII had ended even with evidence, including articles, family photos, and recordings, sent to prove otherwise.

Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle is written by Arthur Harari and Vincent Poymiro, with the collaboration of Bernard Cendron. Harari also directed the movie, which stars Endō Yūya, Tsuda Kanji, Matsuura Yūya, Chiba Tetsuya. Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle is being distributed by Dark Star Pictures, joining the sports documentary Kaepernick & America. Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle has a runtime of 167 minutes.
