Opinion: Here's hoping the SDSU Aztec basketball team's inspiring journey continues [Opinion]
Between rule changes that make it much easier for skilled but disaffected players to transfer — and that basically allow boosters to pay players to come to their beloved alma maters — the perception that this diffusion of talent makes college basketball and its March Madness spectacle more wide open than ever is ubiquitous.
The Aztecs — fifth seed in their regional — will take on the No. 1 overall seed Alabama Crimson Tide at 3:30 p.m. San Diego time on Friday. The Sweet 16 game, being held in Louisville, will be broadcast on TBS and 760-AM. Alabama is the 7.5-point favorite. But when SDSU is making a good percentage of its three-point shots, it has been very difficult to beat. The Aztecs play in a physically demanding style and won’t be intimidated by the Crimson Tide’s unusually big front line.
