Samuel AkpanThe Peoples Democratic Party in Imo has suspended its state house of assembly and house of representatives primaries.In a statement issued on Sunday, Kessinger Ikeokwu, PDP legal adviser in the state, said the suspension is as a result of an “error” in the Electoral Act 2022.
“This is hinged on Section 84 of the Electoral Act which inadvertently led to the exclusion of over 80 percent of delegates ordinarily meant to vote at the primaries. “What it means is that it created a situation of chaos for Imo because we have not concluded our elected delegates.” INEC, in a letter addressed to the PDP, had said it voided the election because of the absence of original result sheets at the congress.
