Pa. man admits killing his mother with a baseball bat in their home

Christopher Depka pleads guilty to third-degree murder in Northumberland County.

SUNBURY — A Northumberland County man admitted to killing his mother in 2021 with a baseball bat.

Her body was found concealed under several blankets in a blood-spattered bedroom on Nov. 21, 2021. An autopsy determined Jones suffered a fractured skull. During a subsequent search, police said they found a baseball bat covered with hair and blood in a box under a desk in Depka’s bedroom. Surveillance video showed Depka leaving the home for about an hour the day before. While gone, he used his mother’s bank card to withdraw $200 from an ATM in a drug store, police said.
